Get Yourself A Beautiful Photography Website
There comes a time when a Photographer considers starting a photography website.
It may be required for their business. Some may want a Photography Website just to have one.
Before I go any farther I must disclose that I use affiliate links on this website, and there are some on this page.
This means that if you click on one and buy something from the website it refers you to, I will get a little payment.
You will not pay any extra than you would have if you had gone straight to the website you bought from.
This is how I make a living. Check the Affiliate Disclaimer.

Getting a professional is probably the best option.
You know you’re going to get a thorough and professional job, and just what you want.
The problem here is going to be the cost, a professional will require a professionals payment.
A wordpress.org site will also be top class.
It might take a bit of time fiddling and chancing before you get it right.
It may never be exactly how you imagined it, although it will probably do all you want it to.
The off the shelf option might be a good one.
You can see what you’re going to get, rather than try to make it happen.
The cost might be more than the first two, but it will be cheaper than hiring the professional.
You may need hosting
Should you decide to build it completely yourself, it may not cost much.
There’s one cost that you can’t avoid though.
As it happens this might be the only cost if you go the wordpress.org route also.
You’re going to need a hosting account.
A Website needs a home on the internet because it wont survive homeless.
That home will be provided by a hosting company, who will accommodate on their servers.

With Weebly you can build a Website about any topic, not just Photography.
A Weebly site is built by dragging and dropping the various parts together.
This is done on their own website builder.
First you choose a theme from several types.
These include Online Stores, Business, Portfolio, Personal, Event and Blog.
Having chosen the theme, you edit it.
You add the elements you want and build it up until you’re satisfied that’s it’s perfect.

Wix sites are there for anyone who wants a site for anything.
They’re not specifically aimed at Photographers, or Artists in particular.
They seem to offer more things than most of the other sites I’m looking at.
There’s hosting and the ability to register a domain name.
Actually there’s free hosting, but it’s basic.
As with the other providers here, you build the site by adding elements to templates. Wix can build it for you if you want.
If you prefer you can start with a blank canvas.
They also have a Support Center.
The Wix Website has a bigger menu than most others. It’s slightly deceptive, because it seems to have more information than the others but it actually seems about the same.
The Wix Website is worth a look
Zenfolio was created specifically for Photographers and Photography Websites.
It looks like they’ve stuck with Photographers alone.
Once again the Websites are built onto templates.
Add the content you want to build the site you want.
Sell your photos on a range of gifts again.
The range seems to be a bit bigger than some of the others.
None of them list exactly what’s available so this is only an impression.
The site menu lists several different plans.
However when you click on the links, they’re all the same.
That’s somewhat confusing.
When you click the full feature list at the bottom of the page, the prices change.
The names of the plans stay the same, as does the price of the cheapest one.
The other two plans double in price.
There’s the option of using your own domain, and there’s a Support Center.
The Zenfolio Website.
Photoshelter is another company whose websites are just for Photography and Video.
They showcase some of the sites built on their platform.
Some are from very well known Photographers.
It seems Photoshelter doesn’t have as many templates as most of the other companies have.
They say they have nine, and they can also supply a consultant to help build your site.
They offer three programmes, Basic, Standard and Pro.
You have sign up to one, and you get a Free Trial of that one.
You can change your mind later.
When you go to their Website click on Features at the top.
Scroll down to Overview and start there.
It’s well presented there, otherwise the site is a little confusing.
As well as selling your own images you can sell items from five other companies.
These are all items with Photographic designs.
See the Photoshelter Website.
Most people can build a website with Squarespace.

Go to the Squarspace Website.
Which Photography Website?
Whatever type of Photography Website you would like, I expect one or perhaps all of these can sort you out.
Look through them all before you choose.
I love owning a website.
I’ve had them on and off, mostly on, since 2001.
They might seem daunting, but they’re not.
The photographs I’ve used in this article are all my own.
They’ve nothing got to do with any of these companies.
They’re just her to brighten up the article.
This is a photo website after all.
